Campaign Focus*

1. Financial Support for New Church Development Pastors (Salary & Benefits) - to include compensation and associated benefits.

2. Education, Training and Assessment for Potential New Church Development Pastors and Lay Teams - to include family health & wellness support, coaching, training, retreats and renewal.

3. Land Acquisition** - to provide financial support for an initial down payment on land. ( We welcome the gift of land and prefer non-designated donations which can be used for the purchase of land at a needed site.) The goal is to purchase (or receive as a gift) 10 acres of land or more for each church although less acreage will be considered depending on the situation.

4. Resources for new church "starter kit" - chairs, AV, worship resources, technology, childcare equipment and trailer for potential new churches, etc.

.

Sub-total: $1,174,163***

Recommended Goal: $5,000,000

Campaign Time:

Pledges will take place over a three year period but giving will cover four years. (This allows an extra year for tax purposes, etc.) The three year giving period starts when a person writes their first check. The campaign will be formally concluded by June 2008 with the pledging running through May 31, 2011. (This is what is called a "rolling start" and it specifically allows for advance major gifts etc.) In addition, if churches need a longer time to fulfill a church pledge, we will negotiate with them on an individual basis.

Establishment of Income Streams for the Campaign

  1. Individual Gifts
  2. Foundation Gifts
  3. Parenting/Partnering Church commitments
  4. Congregational Gifts
  5. Other in kind gifts (land etc.)

*Requires New Church Development Commission action

**Most Conferences are no longer purchasing the land for new churches, though this is a critical issue that can dramatically change the cost factor per start. Currently we have no policy; land has usually been purchased either by the District or by the New Church itself.

***This figure still under review and is expected to be revised.
